_______________

Please read every page from the Base Coverage list.  Many times the instruction for a certain position is the same on several pages, but often there are important differences.  Also, many ideas you get from one page will help you in another coverage situation.  The more you know, the more prepared you are.

By Position:
Pitcher backs up third.
Catcher commands his infield.
First Base covers the bag.  With the ball hit to shallow center it should be a routine single, but be ready for a quick throw from second to get an out.
Second Base covers the bag.  If your SS goes to the bag, back him up.
Third Base covers the bag.
Short Stop goes for the ball.  If the ball is out of your range, cover the bag and direct your 2nd to back you up.  If the ball is deep enough, line up for a cutoff to third.  Judge the hit quickly and react accordingly.
Left Field moves to the ball.  This should be a routine single, but get the throw in quickly for the possibility of catching her off guard and getting the out.
Center Field moves to the ball.  This should be a routine single, but get the throw in quickly for the possibility of catching her off guard and getting the out.
Right Field moves to the ball.  This should be a routine single, but get the throw in quickly for the possibility of catching her off guard and getting the out.

The Team communicates.

Baseball builds character; be part of the construction crew.
