_______________

Here we show the catcher moving to cover an overthrow to 1st.  It's not likely that a throw will be made there, but a rundown is possible if the runner is not aware of our outfield's ability to make fine plays at second.  So our catcher should be there for that.  It's also a good idea for the catcher to follow the runner to first whenever there are no runners on and the ball is hit anywhere but the outfield gaps.  He would certainly beat the runner back home if the worst were to happen.

By Position:
Pitcher moves off the mound to backup 2nd.
Catcher moves down the first base line with the runner.  Make sure she touches the bag, know how to make the appeal, and read the bold print above.
First Base covers the bag.  Make sure not to interfere with the runner, and watch her touch the bag.  If she makes too much of a turn, be ready for the throw and put on the tag.  Block the base with your glove on a slide, and sweep the tag.
Second Base backs up the throw to second.  If your SS misjudges the depth of the hit, you move to cover his butt by covering the bag.
Third Base moves out for an errant throw to second.  Yield to your pitcher here because if there is an errant throw to 2nd, she'll probably be moving to your bag.  You would only get the throw if you are in a good position to tag the runner.  Don't let her get to third on a single.
Short Stop covers second.  Be ready to put on the tag with your glove swept from in front of the bag.  On a casual throw you may have a play at the runner going back to first.  Remember that you are likely not in the best position to deliver your best strike, and keep the particular game situation (inning, score, etc.) in mind before making any desperate play.
Left Field moves to the ball.  This should be a routine single, but get the throw in quickly for the possibility of catching her off guard and getting the out.
Center Field moves to the ball.  This should be a routine single, but get the throw in quickly for the possibility of catching her off guard and getting the out.
Right Field moves to the ball.  This should be a routine single, but get the throw in quickly for the possibility of catching her off guard and getting the out.

The Team communicates.
